Steve Bing plays fiddle, Cajun accordion, and is the lead singer. His Cajun and Creole musical influences are drawn from performing on stage with many great Louisiana musicians including Luderin Darbone (Hackberry Ramblers), Goldman Thibodeaux (Lawtell Playboys), Ed Poullard, Corey Ledet, Charles Thibodeaux, Lee Benoit, Sammy Naquin, Cedric Watson, Scotty Pousson, Larry Miller and others. His Texas Swing influences include the music of the great Bob Wills and Milton Brown as well as modern groups like Hot Club Of Cowtown and Asleep At The Wheel. Steve was the fiddler in the Louisiana Opry band in Covington, Louisiana in 2008, playing classic and contemporary country music in a "Grand Ole Opry" format. Steve also toured nationally with world-famous folk singer/musician Glenn Yarbrough playing six different instruments in the Havenstock River Band which is Glenn's "back-up" band. Steve's fiddling styles include Cajun, Creole, Texas Swing, Old-Timey, Bluegrass, and Country. Steve is a full-time musician and is also a music teacher on Cajun accordion, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and bass. He has traveled to fiddle camps and taught Cajun and Old-Time fiddle to young and old alike. He is also a square dance caller of old-timey squares and contras when the need arises. Over the years Steve has called well over two-thousand square and contra dances across the midwest and south. He also plays fiddle in his old-time string band called the "Laughing Lizards" www.laughinglizardsband.com. Having also lived in southern Kentucky, Steve was commissioned an honorary "Kentucky Colonel" in 1990 for his work with creating entertainment programs for World War II Pear Harbor survivors and military veterans.
